Paul Gertner: Ten Fingers, A Play of Magic is an entertaining journey into the twisted inner workings of a magician’s mind. In two 45-minute acts Paul shares a meaningful, magical world - the one he discovered as an apprentice and the one he created as an artist. Finding his passion for magic as a ten-year old practicing card tricks hidden in dusty library books he goes on to become one of the most respected performers in his field, and he takes the entire audience along for the ride. There are no floating ladies, big boxes or vanishing tigers… just pure sleight-of-hand magic, right before your eyes! The way magic was meant to be.
Gertner is recognized by his peers as one of the finest sleight-of-hand magicians in the world today. He is a three-time world champion having won First Place awards in Olympic style competitions in Miami, Las Vegas and Madrid, Spain. He won the First Place Award in the Siegfried & Roy $20,000 Las Vegas Sleight-of-Hand Challenge. Three times he has been awarded Magician of the Year for his sleight-of-hand magic from the Academy of Magical Arts (The Magic Castle) in Hollywood. He has performed in 25 countries, been featured in the Wall Street Journal, performed at the Presidential Inauguration and appeared on shows on HBO, ABC, CBS, and was a frequent guest on NBC’s Tonight Show. Paul was also a friend and magic teacher to the late Johnny Carson.
Paul Gertner: Ten Fingers, A Play of Magic premiered at Pittsburgh’s City Theater and was one of the fastest selling shows in the theater’s history selling out a three week run in just 36 hours. Ed Blank of the Pittsburgh Tribune Review wrote, “Paul Gertner’s Ten Fingers… Simply Magic.”
Christopher Rawson of the Pittsburgh Press wrote: “Paul Gertner is major league indeed.”
“If you like sleight-of-hand magic, we have one of the best in the world with us tonight,” said Johnny Carson as he introduced Paul on his first of three Tonight Show appearances.
